2024.11.9 Live Painting Project
"colore-irodori-" (Shinjuku at THEATER, Tokyo)
Stars, the sun, the moon, mountains, forests, rivers, cities, and people—colors.
If I were to set a dramatic moment within a painting in motion, I would choose not moving images, but an expression that remains unmistakably analog.
If the vague yet ceaselessly shifting scenes within my mind were to take on physical form, they would descend from the distant sky into the city—bridging the mind and the body, so often estranged from one another, and perhaps, too, connecting the self with others.
The city and its people become the colors that give shape to everyday life.
—From the colore – Irodori pamphlet
Takumi Kohira creates landscapes that explore the relationship between the city and its people, guided by the artist's own conceptual vision.
The girl who existed only within the paintings steps into real space through the dancer Miki Ige, becoming a mediator between the audience and the world of the work.
Painting and the body, inner imagery and physical space respond to one another, unfolding as a performance presented for one night only.
